Four Cleaning Tricks For Your Home
Cleaning is often a time consuming and tedious task that you probably rarely approach with enthusiasm. This Halloween, as a treat from Swissmaid, we will share four cleaning tricks that you can use in your home.
Clear Your Clutter
Before you start any cleaning, it is important that you take some time to clear your clutter. If your home is cluttered it will take longer to clean and your cleaning tasks will be disrupted by dealing with clutter as you work through each room of your home.
It is important that you try to minimise the number of ornaments around your home as this will allow you to complete your dusting and general cleaning tasks faster and without fuss. In functional rooms of your home, such as your kitchen and bathroom, the focus should be on maximising your use of cupboards and shelves that allow you to store items in a tidy way that does not hinder your cleaning efforts.
Make A Multi-Purpose Cleaner
A multi-purpose cleaner is a really useful item to have in your cleaning toolbox. It has versatile cleaning capabilities that are equally as useful at cleaning the work surfaces in your kitchen as it is at tackling your bathroom.
To make your own multi-purpose cleaner, Good Housekeeping recommends combining 4 tablespoons baking soda and 1 quart warm water. You can use your multi-purpose cleaning solution with a sponge or a cloth to clean a range of different surfaces throughout your home.
Refresh Your Bins With Lemon
Despite your best efforts, most of our bins can regularly develop unpleasant odours that undermine the cleanliness of our homes. Although you can buy bin cleaning products to tackle bin odours, we find that a more straightforward common household item can refresh your bins just as well as a dedicated cleaning product.
To refresh your bin, run a few lemon rinds through the inside of the bin after you have removed any lining bags. Once you have done this, rinse your bin thoroughly with cold water to dispel any unpleasant odours that may be lurking inside.
Brighten Your Windows With Vinegar
After a while your windows can become dull and grime can set in on the glass. As your windows are visible to all they can be a key marker of your homes general cleanliness and are very much worth addressing. Bright clean windows will allow more light into your home and lift your entire home.
To make your window cleaning mix, take 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and mix it with a gallon of water and add this to a used spray bottle. You can then squirt this solution directly onto your windows and wipe it away with a clean microfiber cloth.
